For years Merimbula has been the tourist hub of the far south coast. Particularly popular with visitors from Victoria, Merimbula has lodged itself firmly in the hearts of many as their childhood holiday town.
Tura Beach is a newcomer to the area as far as holiday rentals are concerned. A little slow to take off Tura Beach is now becoming a holiday destination in itself. Helped along by providing cheaper, more spacious and more modern holiday homes that are more suited to family holiday living, Tura Beach has the added advantage that many of the holiday homes have direct access to the beautiful beaches.
Of further assistance in boosting the areas popularity has the been the construction of the Tura Beach shopping complex that is home to a Woolworths, Pharmacy, Newsagency and Real Estate. The centre during holiday peak season processes anywhere from 12000 people per day.
Tura Beach is a valid alternative to Merimbula. the homes are modern and spacious and provide good value for dollar. The area does not suffer from the traffic problems facing Merimbula and the parking at the shopping centre is generous and level with no major roads to tackle. There are plenty of children’s parks and green spaces available for the children to play and kick a ball around. The beach is ideal for long walks, a game of cricket and collecting shells. The beaches at Tura are not supervised so if this is a concern beaches such as Mitchies, Spencer Park or Merimbula’s Main Surf Beach are probably best visited.
There are restaurants at Tura – the local Tavern provides a well priced family meal and the Country Club at the Tura Golf Club is also great value. Chinese takewaya is available from the old shopping centre. For a night out you really can’t compete with Merimbula.
